Phnom Penh and Surroundings

Phnom Penh is often commonly known as the “Paris of the East” due to its French architectural heritage and design. It is certainly a very dynamic city, bursting with energy, perfect for doing a CELTA course. With over 1,500,000 citizens, it is the busiest city in Cambodia.

As with most parts of Cambodia, Phnom Penh has a hot tropical climate that is usually around 30 C so leave those woolly jumpers at home! Although you may not be able to find a McDonald's here, why not use this unique opportunity to try the local delicacy of Tarantula kebab?!

As for places to visit, when you are not lesson planning, you can take a stroll along the Sisowath Quay or a Sunset Cruise on a traditional Cambodian wooden boat!

For more information on mesmerising Phnom Penh, see the Lonely Planet Guide.
