TEFL Jobs and Employment

Good news! Most CELTA graduates secure employment within weeks of course completion. Why? Because employers around the world trust the CELTA as an assurance of quality.

We can help you start your TEFL career and find a great English teaching job!

The wonderful thing about the CELTA qualification is that you will be ready to walk into a classroom and teach. You will need ongoing support and will still have a lot to learn, but nothing you can’t do on the job at the right school! We can help. So can your fantastic trainers! We can also help DELTA-qualified trainees seeking more senior teaching positions.

What’s great about TEFLwork is that not only can you look for and apply for TEFL jobs yourself, the schools can look up potential teachers and contact you with positions you might be interested in.

You can “favourite” jobs so you can save them to apply for later, search by your qualification, the location you want to work in, or simply look through jobs which are recommended to you. If a job comes on the site we think may be suitable for you, we will send you an alert to let you know.

Preparation for job interviews and what to look for in employers for either face-to-face jobs or online

CELTA courses include sessions to prepare you for the job market.

During your CELTA course careers sessions, your tutors will cover teaching position interview tips, and what to ask potential employers. You need to do your homework about the places and countries where you apply for a job – what the conditions are, the cost of living, visas, insurance, timetables, onboarding, ongoing support, and professional development. A good employer will be transparent about these things in the job advert.

Do you homework and check about visas

Many centres provide visa support services. Check with your training provider.

If you take the CELTA in the place where you hope to find work, make sure that you have first investigated your ability to get a work visa in that country. You possibly won’t need a visa to do the CELTA training if it is an intensive course. A tourist visa is enough. However, working is a different scenario! Do your homework first. Your CELTA tutors will also advise you and some centres will also provide services to help you. Make sure you ask about it during your initial CELTA interview.
