Do you want to take an online CELTA course? Choose from the options above, or view other time zones here.
Of course, if you need help finding a course, contact one of our advisors here and they will be able to assist you in finding a suitable course to suit your needs. We have a wide variety of options available including face-to-face Part-Time and Full-Time courses, as well as fully Online (full and part-time) and Online Mixed Mode CELTA Courses in Eastern European, the Middle East, and Central Asian time zones.
How will the CELTA 100% Online be different?
The main difference will concern the teaching practice element, you will do your real teaching online via a video conferencing tool, such as Zoom. Input and planning sessions will still take place, via Moodle and online live sessions.
The course content will remain the same as for the face-to-face CELTA. The requirement of 6 hours of teaching practice will remain the same, assessed and moderated by a qualified CELTA tutor. Finally, there are also the four written assignments that you will need to submit at the end of the online course.
What are the advantages of the fully Online CELTA?
- Accessibility: There’s no need to worry about travel arrangements or costs – all you need is your screen, video conferencing tools, and a comfortable workspace!
- Experience Online Teaching: As the CELTA is traditionally taught in a classroom, this new format offers the added bonus of providing an insight into online teaching, which could be useful for teaching English online in the future. If you want to find out more about Teaching English online see ELTcampus Support for Teaching English Online resources bundle
- An internationally recognised TEFL qualification: The CELTA is the golden standard of TEFL qualifications and most reputable schools look for this certificate when hiring. A CELTA will never expire and show recruiters that you understand the core principles and methodologies of teaching English as a second language.
Will my CELTA Certificate show that the course was online?
No, just as with CELTA Online Mixed Mode courses, your certificate will not show the location or format in which you took the CELTA. The certificate states that you have completed and it is issued by Cambridge English Language Assessment (belonging to the University of Cambridge).
What are the requirements for taking the CELTA fully Online?
The requirements are the same as for taking a face-to-face CELTA. These include:
- Sufficient education for entering higher education, e.g. University (otherwise life experience can be taken into account)
- A high level of English language and grammar awareness, or a proficiency equivalent to an IELTS 7.5 or a high Cambridge C1
- As well as aged 18 or over
It’s also important that you have access to the following at home:
- A laptop or desktop computer with headphones and a microphone
- Good internet connection
- Your own designated and comfortable working area at home
Apply for a CELTA fully Online
Three are a few steps to apply for a CELTA course:
First of all – make sure you have chosen a time zone that is suitable for you.
Secondly – clear 15 minutes of your schedule to fill out the initial application form.
Finally – wait for a member of the StudyCELTA team to get in contact with you. They will confirm to you that your application has been processed and send you a pre-interview task. This shouldn’t take more than 24 hours (unless it’s a weekend) but please get in contact with us if it’s longer.
When you have completed your pre-interview task and sent it back to us, we will screen it and, if successful, you will get an invitation to an interview.
Find a TEFL Job after taking your online CELTA
As part of the course content, during your CELTA there is time to inform you about how, when, and where to look for work once you have completed the course. Furthermore, as a StudyCELTA trainee, you can sign up for free to our TEFL jobs website www.teflwork.com. TEFLwork is a platform only for qualified English teachers. Through TEFLwork you will be able to find work both at home and abroad. Online teaching positions are also available and teachers with a CELTA certificate are in high demand for this kind of role.
