About Rome

Rome, the capital of Italy and the region of Lazio, is home to almost three million people (and more than four in the Greater Metropolitan area). Famously built upon seven hills, Rome is one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited cities, and is famous for its ancient and modern wonders alike. From the Colosseum to the Roman Forum, the Trevi fountain, Vatican city, St Peter's Basilica and Michelangelo's frescos in the Sistine Chapel, there is no shortage of things to do and see in the vibrant Italian capital. And, of course, there's the food: from cheap slices of pizza served up in hole-in-the-wall bars, to fancy, modern cuisine, foodies will be in carbohydrate heaven within the ancient walls. Stroll along the River Tiber, visit the sites of the Roman Empire, or sit in on the Pope's Sunday address; there's something for everyone in The Eternal City. • 30 years of experience
  • Located close to the Colosseum and the main railway station (Stazione Termini)
  • Fully equipped facilities for trainees

The teacher training centre in Rome was founded more than thirty years ago mainly to cater to the needs of the local schools. It expanded, however, to become the largest in Italy, in response to the growing demand for training courses in both state schools and private institutions. In 1997 the centre was one of the first in the world authorised by the University of Cambridge ESOL (now Cambridge English Language Assessment) to pilot their new Extension Course for Teachers of Young Learners. Over the years they have prepared more than three thousand candidates from all over the world for careers both in Italy and abroad.

The Rome training centre is located in the centre of the city, close to the Colosseum, San Giovanni in Laterano and the main railway station (Stazione Termini). Course participants have access to the training centre's fully equipped Self Study Centre and its extensive library of materials for lesson planning and reference. CELTA students are also provided with their own room that includes photocopying and IT facilities, and wi-fi is available in the whole premises.
