Accommodation in Lyon for Trainees
The partner training centre can help arrange accommodation such as hotel stays for students from outside the Lyon area. Please indicate that you are going to require help with accommodation when you apply. The course tutor will be able to let you know a variety of host families who are happy to have you stay. You always have a private room, free run of their kitchen and access to the wi-fi. The price is usually around €450 for the four weeks of your stay. There is also self-contained accommodation available which tends to be more expensive.
Houses in Lyon are known for their charm and their tasteful architecture. We believe that being surrounded by beautiful things helps make your CELTA that extra bit special.
Successful applicants are sent accommodation options at least a month before the course starts so that you can organise your trip well in advance and contact your hosts, who are often willing to come and meet you at the train station or airport.
Alternatively, we recommend candidates book accommodation through AirBnB.
Lyon and Surroundings
Taking your CELTA in Lyon allows you to take advantage of one of France's most beautiful cities. Lyon is known for its stunning architecture, wonderful food, and lifestyle; the terraces of the cafés in the medieval historic quarter are always full of people exchanging news and views and generally enjoying life. Lyon also has a very efficient metro system.
Lyon is also the heart of the economically thriving Bouches de Rhône region of France. It has always been an important economic hub in France, first of all as a central trading point for the silk industry. Nowadays it is known as the capital of the medical and pharmaceutical industry in France with related in-company teaching opportunities. It is also, of course, the birthplace of cinema and proud to honour the legendary Lumiere brothers with its magnificent winter 'fête des lumières'.
