Valencia, Spain’s third largest city, is a fantastic CELTA location. Situated on the eastern coast of the country and distinctly less hectic than Spain’s two largest cities, Valencia is an enjoyable, entertaining city to spend time in, and an ideal location for you to spend a month for your CELTA course. The city has a thriving cultural and culinary scene, is innovative, distinctive, and gives you room to breathe, a key aspect for your CELTA course.

There are a number of upcoming Valencia face-to-face CELTA courses, with online part-time courses also available. So we have decided to delve more into this Mediterranean jewel and explore why it is such and idyllic location to take your CELTA, either face-to-face and online.

Key features of the city

One of the key features that any visitor to Valencia will notice is the magnificent green space that winds through the heart of the city, bisecting it. This enormous beautiful sunken park was constructed in the former riverbed of the river Turia, which was drained and rerouted following a catastrophic flood in 1957.

The City of Arts and Sciences sits towards the sea end of this immense park and is the most important modern tourist destination in Valencia. The centre, designed by internationally-renowned Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, consists of nine separate buildings or structures, of which the shell-like  ‘L’Hemisfèric’ is probably the most instantly recognisable. The area is truly a must-see while in the city.

Food

Valencia as a culinary location is probably best known as being the home of paella. The symbolic, quintessential Spanish dish is almost ubiquitous in the city, while the traditional Valencian paella, which features chicken and rabbit instead of seafood, can be found in many locations. For foodies, head to the Central Food Market, where you can enjoy Valencian delicacies ‘horchata’ and ‘fartons’  as well as local cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit, fish and more besides.

Culture and sport

In addition to the aforementioned City of Arts and Sciences, the city has a wealth of historical features blended with Modernista buildings. The city has been inhabited since the 2nd Century BC and has an array of influences for anyone interested in architecture or history to enjoy.

For any football fans, the Mestalla Stadium, home to Valencia CF, is a must see experience too. The stadium is situated in the heart of the city and its occupants are winners of six La Liga titles and have been involved in seven major European finals.

Location and climate

Situated on the Mediterranean coast, the city enjoys an enviable climate, with golden days of sunshine in the summer, and average daily high temperatures of over 16 degrees Celsius, even in the depths of winter. The city enjoys close to 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, with a cooling sea breeze to take the edge off in the summer!

In addition to such a idyllic climate, there are also a wide range of beautiful golden sandy beaches for visitors to enjoy and unwind. All of these are just a stone’s throw from the city centre, meaning you really are spoilt for choice.

Online learning

“For the online CELTA via Valencia, the location had been running the blended CELTA programme for a number of years even before 2020, meaning that it is extremely well-versed in giving CELTA candidates the best possible online teacher training experience. For the 100% CELTA course, candidates work though the course modules online at their own pace, with online tutorials and guidance over the duration of the course. The location also looks to work around all candidates preferred timeframes. Online part-time courses with the Valencia centre are excellent value as well!
