Koreatown, Los Angeles, California, and Surroundings

Koreatown in Los Angeles is a real LA story. It's been a "scene" in the 1920's and 30's and had period of mass immigration, unrest and resurrection. Today, this part of town is a favourite for a lot of locals keen to try out it's fantastic food and soak up the vibes.

Koreatown is west of downtown and south of Hollywood and is considered part of the Mid-Wilshire district. Wherever you go in Koreatown, you'll hear Korean, Spanish and English, and often a mashup of all three languages, which, as a budding applied linguist, should really fascinate you. It's called 'translanguaging' and is very cool!

And as a result of these influences, just for your taste buds, you get some of L.A.'s most recognized food, such as Roy Choi's Kogi tacos!

One thing though. Koreatown doesn't sleep. Choose a quiet spot to get some good rest and wait for AFTER the CELTA course to try out the nightlife!
