Penang is a Malaysian State located on the Peninsular Malaysia. It is one of the most urbanised and economically prominent states in the region. Its capital, George Town, was founded by the British in 1786 and is a World Heritage Site, drawing many tourists every year. Penang is often referred to as the 'Silicon Valley of the East' as it is home to so many technology companies.
Like the rest of Malaysia, Penang has a tropical climate, with the average temperature all year round being 30 to 32 degrees celsius. Penang has a heavy rain season in September and October. Penang is a culturally diverse place and therefore is home to many festivals all year round including, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, Wesak Day, and Vaisakhi. A melting pot of culture and diversity is also to thank for its amazing variety of food. Penang is well-known for its excellent street food, which truly is delicious!
