Our CELTA centre partner in Bogota is located right in the centre of the city, known La Candelaria, which is Bogota’s historical part. Plaza de Bolívar, Bogota’s central square, is less than 10 minutes away on foot. The museums and main sites in the centre are all within walking distance from the CELTA centre. Being blessed by such a central location, there are many hotels, restaurants and coffee shops available close to the school. What is more, the CELTA centre is housed in a 19th Century building, which, while newly refurbished, still retains its original charm. In terms of getting around, interestingly, Bogota has a bus system (TransMilenio) which emulates a metro system, keeping the city’s public transport highly organised. Ordinary buses and Taxis are other options for commuting.

Bogota and Surroundings

Bogota is the capital of Colombia and is the country’s largest city. Now a highly cosmopolitan city, Bogotá has a rich colonial past. Traces of its colonial history lie in the heart of its centre, known as La Candelaria.  It is where most of the city’s renowned sites are, ranging from museums, bars and restaurants and many hotels. The capital is not all about urban life. It boasts its fair share of natural landscapes, such its holy mountain, Monserrate. This diversity is what gives Colombia’s largest capital its vitality and unique qualities which attract numerous visitors from across the globe every year.
