I completed the CELTA training course in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I made the choice to undertake the course there as it’s a beautiful location and an inexpensive place to live for a month. The course is a rollercoaster of emotions, but I can honestly say that I gained so much knowledge and expertise from the teacher trainers and tutors, who were always on hand to offer advice and support. As a qualified teacher from the UK, the CELTA offered me far more than a ‘top up’ in terms of pedagogy: the seminars provided practical and in-depth knowledge, the observation feedback was consistently clear and thorough, and the course itself was well-structured. The training centre in Siem Reap provided an excellent environment in which to study, the facilities were good, and the staff was helpful and friendly. One of the best aspects of the facilities was the cafe, which was a wonderful place to relax, grab some food and meet other trainees. I’d highly recommend to anyone who is keen to undertake a CELTA course that they go to Siem Reap, Cambodia for a month: it will be extremely rewarding, both professionally and personally!
