I completed my CELTA course at the teacher training centre in Derry in August 2014 and I can’t recommend it enough.
Whatever you put into the course, you get out of it. Long days, late nights and tight deadlines was the name of the game. In saying that there was never a time that I didn’t feel supported by either our trainers Kelley and Chris or my peers. Feedback and guidance never stopped and I cannot stress enough how apparent it was from day one that we were in the hands of two very capable individuals (Kelley and Chris) who really believed in the work of language education and all of its challenges and recompenses.
Beyond the trainers, the school’s location in the heart of Derry allowed for a diverse student body during the practical parts of our course. I was able to interact with and teach international students with a multitude of needs, which was a priceless experience for such an early stage in my teaching career.
Since completing my CELTA course I have taught in Italy, Greece and last year I returned back to where it all started, the teacher training centre in Derry. I found my CELTA course to be a true investment in my teaching career and future.
