I did my CELTA course in Gzira in Malta and found it to be a true investment in my teaching career. The learning process on the CELTA course is a cycle where reflection plays an imperative role as we were continually encouraged by our trainers to evaluate our teaching progress, essentially by identifying (and accepting) both our strengths and weaknesses, and learning how to change our weaknesses into strengths.
The input sessions in the morning provided both practice and theory which we tried to ‘re-produce’ in our lessons in the afternoon. Moreover, we attempted to practice hands-on and integrate most of the techniques that we learned in the morning straightaway in our teaching practice in the afternoon. Additionally, I have now come to realise that this is what constitutes true learning.
Developing new ways of teaching and fresher methodologies are always good ways to become more professional. The CELTA course is ideal for anyone who is willing to invest in his own personal and professional development in the EFL industry and beyond. The CELTA trainers were also highly professional and prompt to help us with whatever we needed.
