Warsaw and Surroundings

As Poland’s capital and largest city, there’s no shortage of things to see and do in Warsaw. The medieval city sits on the banks of the Vistula River, and is home to some 1.7 million people – making it one of the largest cities in Europe.

Much of the city’s historic centre was destroyed during the second world war, but has since been rebuilt and restored. The ancient marketplace, palaces and churches are vibrant, colourful, and buzzing with life, and it’s not hard to stumble across a cheap hit or hidden laneway.

Across the river, the Praga district is home to cool street art, hip bars and quirky pubs, and the city is littered with fascinating pre and post-war museums.

Warsaw is home to hundreds of language schools, where CELTA-trained teaches can easily find employment. The living cost, especially accommodation, are comparatively low, and the city’s central location means that it’s quick and cheap to access to other European capitals and countries.
