This Teacher Campus in Cambridge is based next to the University of Cambridge School of Medicine on Red Cross Lane, just off Babraham road. The historic school is located in picturesque gardens, perfect for dining outside, socialising with friends or studying in your free time. It is also just a short distance from the centre of Cambridge, a city with a worldwide reputation for academic excellence, offering a vibrant summer programme of artistic and cultural activities.

Enjoy the catering in our bright and spacious dining room, with indoor and outdoor seating. Our dedicated catering team serve a varied menu of delicious and nutritious food and drink including: hot and cold breakfast and lunches, vegetarian and halal options, fruit and sweet treats. Open from 8:00 - 17:00 Monday-Friday.

You can access our learning centre equipped with the latest resources and our computer rooms. Resources include: Bell learning materials, books (fiction, non-fiction and audio), dictionaries, DVDs, daily newspapers and weekly magazines.

ll resources are colour-coded by language level and there is a dedicated section for business learning materials. The learning centre team are available to help with any requests and guidance on which materials to use. Open from 8.00-17.45 (Monday-Thursday) and 8.00-16.45 (Friday). All students have access to free printing, scanning, photocopying and Wi-Fi.

Cambridge CELTA Examinations

You will also be able to join an interesting variety of workshops, cultural talks and a special lecture each week from a prominent speaker as well as enjoy an exciting social programme and variety of sporting activities including croquet.

About the Teacher Training Centre at Cambridge Station

The Cambridge Station teacher training centre is based in the oldest English Language school in Cambridge. It comprises two beautiful Victorian buildings, with ivy-covered walls and a lovely garden. The school is located 400 metres from the Cambridge railway station and just 10 minutes' walk from the city centre.

The Learning Centre is a quiet place where you can study, read or borrow books, browse the latest newspapers, listen to CDs and use our multimedia facilities. The Learning Centre also contains computers with educational and other useful software.

The school offers free internet access  to help you keep in touch with friends and family back home and with your classmates when they leave. You may use the Internet, Skype and send/receive web-based emails free of charge. The school also provides a Wi-Fi connection for your personal devices all around the school and garden.

The centre staff are here to help you with any questions you might have regarding your free time, free activity programme, excursion options, accommodation and personal welfare, whilst living in Cambridge. There is also a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week telephone number for use in emergencies.

There is also an onsite café, open Monday to Friday for breakfast, lunch and snacks. The chef provides traditional English food and a choice of international dishes and vegetarian options. The food is varied and of very good quality.

In the evenings, the cafe is often used for parties, discos and singing evenings. At any time, it is a great place for you to relax and meet friends.

About the Training Staff at the Cambridge Station Centre

Tom Hewson is the main course tutor. He has been a CELTA tutor since 2005.  He has been an EFL teacher since 1991 and has taught in Germany and the UK.

Melissa Barrett has been a CELTA tutor since 2012.  She have been an EFL teacher since 1997 and has taught in the Czech Republic, Australia, Singapore & the UK. She has also done some work as a Delta tutor.

The third tutor, Dermot O’Sullivan has been an EFL teacher since 1982.  He has taught in Spain, Italy and the UK.

Cambridge Station 2020

The centre can arrange accommodation in a residence or homestay accommodation.


  • For your privacy and comfort, we provide only single study bedrooms 
  • Your hosts will provide you with breakfast and dinner each day from Monday to Friday and all meals at weekends. (Lunch is served from Monday to Friday in the Studio cafe, at a small additional cost).
  • Your hosts will change your bed linen and wash your clothes at least once per week.

There are three types of homestay accommodation:

  • Homestay Three Star: Regular family housing, offering good clean accommodation. Approximately 90% of our host families have a 3 star rating.
  • Homestay Four Star: Large, luxury bedroom, often with a double bed or television but without en-suite (shared bathroom with host family).
  • Homestay Five Star: Executive- standard, usually a large house and typically providing a bathroom for private use. 
  • Homestay***     - £175 per week
  • Homestay****    - £215 per week
  • Homestay*****   - £275 per week

Advantages of homestay accommodation

  • Half-board (bed, breakfast and evening meals) Monday to Friday
  • Full-board (bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner) at weekends
  • Laundry is washed at least once a week

Residential accommodation:

Residential accommodation is self-catering and for students aged 18+. Rooms are available year round in Cambridge in our Tripos Court student residence. Staying in a residence is the best option for those people who like to be more independent. All residences are in easy walking distance from the CELTA centre.

Tripos Court Residence:

  • Tripos Court is a modern residence located in a newly-developed area of Cambridge, opposite a large cinema and bowling complex with supermarkets, a music/theatre venue, banks and supermarkets. It is a 10 minute walk from Cambridge Station CELTA centre.
  • The residence has been recently refurbished to a very high standard and offers single en-suite bedrooms and shared kitchen/living areas. 
  • There are on-site laundry facilities and bed linen is changed once per week. Candidates should bring their own towels.
  • Price : £240 GBP per week
