Creative Methodology for Teacher of English Description

This course is designed to offer the latest theories and practice in ELT.

Creative Methodology for Teacher of English Aims

This course provides a forum for development of your professional skills, from insights into recent developments in English language teaching to practical classroom ideas and activities. They are also designed to develop your knowledge of contemporary English usage and provide you with the opportunity to improve your all-round competence in English.

Methodology

This two week programme includes approaches and methods (e.g. silent way, task-based learning, visualisation, multiple intelligence, lexical approach), classroom techniques, classroom management (e.g. instructions, eye contact, interaction, use of L1, discipline) and correction techniques (e.g. error analysis, recent changes in spoken English).

Your observation of multilingual classes will give you the opportunity to explore the roles of observer and ‘observee’, to chart lesson stages and to see classroom management and techniques.

Course Outline

In the morning, you will work with an international group of fellow professionals (maximum group size 16), discussing issues in language teaching and looking at materials and activities to give you practical ideas for your classroom.In the afternoon, you will also have the opportunity to observe our teachers putting the techniques we discuss into practice. 25 hour students will also have a series of closed group language sessions to help improve your own level of English.

Applying for an Overseas Teacher Refresher Course with Erasmus+ funding:

  1. Select the course that you wish to apply for and discuss your intended application with the person in your school who is responsible for staff development and EU funding (Erasmus+ Coordinator).
  2. Get confirmation of your acceptance on the course and the fees from the host organisation/course provider. Your organisation will need to refer to this letter within the application for funding.
  3. Please inform the host organisation/course provider of your application. They will help with any information regarding their course to enable the application form to be completed successfully.
  4. The applicant organisation needs to register as an applicant organisation on the European Commission Authentication Service (ECAS), if not already registered. (see below for more details)
  5. Inform the host organisation/course provider as soon as you receive the result of your funding application. Up until this point your place on the course is provisionally reserved. Once you confirm that funding has been granted  you can be enrolled on the course and your invoice sent.
  6. Pay as soon as you receive the funds. Only once payment has been received can your place on the course and any accommodation booked be confirmed.
