Brest and Surroundings

Come and experience the low-stress CELTA by the sea in Brittany. At our new location in France we're offering a whole new CELTA experience. We're running what is normally a 4 week intensive course over five weeks and we're building in lots of long weekends with opportunities to take advantage of the stunning scenery in Brittany and the fascinating culture. We'll be going on boats to visit the islands of Crozon and Ouissant. We'll be taking long walks along the seaside cliffs and paths. We'll be sitting in Breton pubs on Saturday evenings eating the local gallettes, crepes, seafood and tasting the many varieties of brews produced in the area. For those of you who want to stay in an authentic Breton manor house, we’re renting one for the duration of the course.

Brest is Brittany’s second largest administrative centre, and has a great deal to offer. Although it was heavily bombed in 1944, this is by no means the town’s most interesting feature: it has rebuilt itself around a vision of the future, with incredible constructions like the Pont de l'Iroise bridge, which crosses the river Elorn. An amazing feat of architecture, this magnificent cable-stayed bridge was opened in 1994. Admire it from Albert Louppe bridge, which is for pedestrians and cyclists only. It’s a great place to take a walk and enjoy the view of the famous Brest harbour, the ‘Rade de Brest’, a sheltered area of the sea big enough for great ships to lie at anchor.

  • Local transit, tramway, bus €45 for the 5 weeks
  • Food (approx) €350 for the 5 weeks
  • Air France rtn fare from Paris to Brest (booked in advance) €140
  • SNCF rail fare from Paris to Brest (booked in advance) €80
