About the TESOL Centres in Toronto

The CELTA is a standardised course overseen by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, which is part of the University of Cambridge in England. Cambridge ESOL ensures that all CELTA courses meet their standards regarding curriculum and methods of assessment. Cambridge-appointed assessors visit every CELTA course in the world to ensure standardisation.

Eglinton Avenue Campus

The TEFL teacher training centre for the Full Time and Part Time CELTA courses in Toronto has been one of Canada's most active CELTA and Delta TEFL teacher training centres since 1996. The TEFL teacher training centre in Toronto runs 12 CELTA courses and 4 Delta courses per year, and is therefore visited 16 times per year by Cambridge assessors.

The TEFL training centre in Toronto offers bright, modern facilities. Within the CELTA and Delta centre there is a resource room containing a wide collection of textbooks and teacher resource books from all the major ELT publishers. There are visual aids, audio materials, props, audio-visual equipment and computers also.

Jarvis Street Campus

The Jarvis Street training center is in a charming Victorian building, located in the heart of downtown, comes with beautiful features such as stained-glass windows. The school has 17 classrooms over three floors, a computer room, lounge with a kitchen and dining area and a front yard for breaks. Well stocked library available and WiFi can be accessed throughout the building. All CELTA trainees have access to:  free printing and photocopying; board pens, paper, card and all necessary stationery; unlimited use of computers; use of whiteboards; an extensive library of teaching materials and reference books related to EFL teaching and language; and advice and support from our teaching and admin staff who have a huge range of experience in all aspects of EFL.

University Avenue Campus

The teacher training centre on University Avenue in Toronto was established in 2002. It is located in the heart of Toronto near the City Hall and Art Gallery of Ontario. The facilities are modern and contain everything you, as a CELTA trainee, will need. The centre has 38 classrooms, two computer labs, two internet cafés and three student lounges. CELTA trainees have access to the staff room, the four photocopy rooms and the library.

All CELTA, Delta and TESL course trainers are highly experienced teachers who have undergone extensive preparation in order to qualify and are approved by Cambridge ESOL. They have completed both the CELTA and Delta qualifications as well as MA in TESOL in some cases and have many years of both ESL teaching and training experience.

CCNM Residence

The CCNM (Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine) Residence is located in the north end of Toronto, conveniently next to a subway station. The student residence has a number of shared lounges in each floor, complete with satellite television and a balcony overlooking a courtyard. Adjacent to each lounge is a fully equipped kitchen, and laundry facilities are available on each floor. The residence also features a fitness room and a cafeteria with healthy, natural foods.

100 Pembroke

100 Pembroke offers bachelor apartments that can accommodate a single person as well as couples or friends travelling together. Each apartment features a double bed as well as a couch that folds out into an extra bed if needed. The apartments are fully furnished and include a full kitchen and bathroom, as well as cable television and Internet access. This is a great option for students who want the independence of downtown apartment living during their stay.

Accommodation 2019 at Toronto Jarvis Street

Student House in Toronto

The Toronto Student House is located across the street from the Toronto campus on Jarvis Street. It consists of apartments that accommodate four students each. Students are housed in single private rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. A large fully equipped common kitchen and common bathrooms and showers are available to all residents of the house at a ratio of 1 to 4.

All rooms are fully furnished private rooms with a single bed, drawer space, desk, chair, bedside table and TV set. The house is also equipped with wireless Internet access, a phone line and cable TV. The entire apartment unit is heated in the winter months and air-conditioned in the summer. There are laundry facilities on the ground floor of the apartment at a cost of $2.25 per wash and $1.75 for drying.

A new set of sheets, a pillow, and a blanket is provided for every student upon their arrival to the student house. Students are then expected to wash and maintain their sheets and pillows. Extra sheets, pillows and blankets can be provided at an extra charge.

The Campus One residence is a newly built residence affiliated with the University of Toronto. Conveniently located in downtown Toronto, Campus One is just a short walk or bus ride away from major attractions, shopping, restaurants, cafes, and nightlife. Campus One residence offers students a fully-furnished 4-bedroom unit with other international students. All of the bedrooms are private with shared 3-piece bathrooms and are available all year around. This unit is co-ed.
