Walking into the teacher training centre in Derry on the first day of the CELTA course was both a daunting and an exciting moment. I had been warned about the intensity of CELTA, and it truly was a whirlwind four weeks. However, within that short four-week period, I gained a plethora of new skills, as well as invaluable experience in both the theoretical and practical aspects of ESL teaching. Juggling observed teaching practices, methodology lessons, and assignments is challenging, but at the training centre the wonderful trainers, staff, and facilities make it a lot more manageable. The trainers are always on hand to provide support and guidance, and because of their wealth of knowledge and experience, I would highly recommend the CELTA course in Derry. I personally left the CELTA course with the knowledge, practical experience, and confidence to pursue a career in the world of ESL teaching, and am taking advantage of the travel opportunities which come along with it.
