Location

The Whitsundays Teacher Training Center is located in Airlie Beach on the Whitsunday Coast of Queensland. The Campus is located in a new modern building just a 5 minute walk from public transport, shops and the beach.

The Center Building

The new modern college building features a café, a student common room with computers and internet access, a video room and bright modern class rooms.

Facilities

Students can enjoy excellent facilities at the Whitsundays Training Center .

Students have access to their own kitchen, complete with fridge and microwaves, as well as a Student Common Room.

The Training Center also provides students with access to computers before classes start, during breaks and after classes finish. Students have free internet access. The Center is open from 8:15am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

The CELTA Trainers in The Whitsundays

Permanent internal and external teacher training guarantees that the trainers at the Whitsundays Training Center use the latest teacher training methods and resources.

All trainers meet the requirements of the National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) as well as the Cambridge ESOL teacher training requirements. All CELTA trainers have specialist English language teaching qualifications.

The Trainers are motivated and caring professionals that were selected for their teaching skills and enthusiasm.

Professional development for the Whitsundays Teacher Training Center trainers is coordinated by the Special Teacher Training Unit at the Center.

CELTA Employment

CELTA students who received their CELTA Certificate in The Whitsundays have found teaching employment not only in Australia but also in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America .

Each CELTA course includes an employment workshop which provides practical advice on employment opportunities in Australia and around the world. The Training Center also maintains an update job notice-board with details of many TESOL/TEFL teaching positions offered in a range of countries. The CELTA trainers will also be happy to advise you regarding TESOL/TEFL employment opportunities.

Accommodation

For those trainees from outside the Whitsundays requiring accommodation for the time the CELTA course runs for, the Training Center can help with accommodation arrangements.

The Whitsundays Teacher Training Center takes much care in selecting homestay families to match needs and suitability. You will be welcomed as a member of the family in their friendly, relaxed household, conveniently located near the Whitsundays Training Center .

2013 Homestay: The Whitsundays

• Accommodation arrangement fee: AU$190
• Home-stay: AU$240 per week
  Homestay accommodation includes 3 meals per day and all bed linen and towels. There is a minimum booking of four weeks homestay, unless course length is less than 4 weeks.
• Extra nights: AU$50

2013 The Whitsundays Student Residence

The Whitsundays Student Residence is a large, fully self-contained house located within walking distance to the Training Center , beach, shopping centres and bus stop. The house features spacious bedrooms, shared kitchen, shared living room, shared bathroom and shared laundry facilities. It is serviced once per week and all linen, cutlery and crockery are supplied.

Hostel Accommodation

The Whitsundays Teacher Training Center is very centrally located. A number of hostels are located within a 10 to 15 walk or short bus trip from the Center.

Most hostel accommodation is based on single or shared room basis. Twin, triple shared rooms and single rooms are also available. Students have the use of shared kitchen, bathroom and common room facilities. Hostel accommodation is usually organised prior arrival and the price will vary depending on what is available at the time of requesting it.

Apartment Accommodation

Self Contained Studio Apartments - Fully furnished apartments are located a short twenty minute walk from the Whitsundays College of English. Each apartment has is fully self-contained, air-conditioned, includes linen and has access to a pool. Apartment accommodation is organised prior to arrival and the price will vary depending on what is available at the time of requesting it.

A 24 hour airport welcome and transfer service is also available. The cost is AU$80 one way / AU$160 return.
