The Teacher Training Centre and Trainers

The Teacher Training Center in Perth was established in 1989 and is also the largest English as a Second Language (ESL) training centre in Western Australia and one of the four largest centers in Australia.

The Center has many years of experience providing Teacher Training Courses and Executive Management and Communications Training to individuals, companies and public bodies both in Perth, Western Australia and overseas.

The Trainers

All trainers at the Training Center in Perth have been accepted by UCLES after having undergone an extensive trainer-in-training programme. Tutors are all practising teachers of English who divide their time between teaching and teacher training. They are highly qualified and experienced both as teachers and trainers and themselves take part in ongoing training programmes, such as attending conferences and in-house development sessions, in order to keep abreast of the cutting edge of the ELT profession.

The tutors have worked internationally and bring a wide range of key experience, qualifications and knowledge to the course. All trainers undergo a rigorous selection and training process that is monitored by Cambridge University.

Accredited as a Cambridge University ESOL Teacher Training Centre in 1997 to offer both the CELTA Certificate and the DELTA Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults

The Teacher Training Center is able to provide a broad range of training courses and products and its methodologies are at the cutting edge of the industry. The Center’s philosophy is to raise the standards of TESOL Teacher Training competency throughout the world.

Training Centre Facilities

The Perth campus is located on Vincent Street opposite the Beatty Park Aquatic Centre, only 1.7 kms from the CBD. Free parking is available. The Perth campus boasts 27 spacious classrooms which are used for training, as well as a modern Computer Assisted Learning Laboratory and Teaching Resource Library. On campus residential accommodation, Beatty Lodge, is also available for country and international clients.

Homestay:

Get the most out of your travel and study experience by living with an Australian family and experiencing the lifestyle first hand.

Perth Teacher Training

Enrolment Procedure

  1. If you believe you cover the minimum requirements to be considered as a candidate for one of the Teacher Training Programmes that we offer in Perth, Australia, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and ask for the application package of the course of your choice.
  2. Prospective trainees must complete the application package and return it, via email, as attachment to the Programmes Coordinator well in advance before the preferred starting date.
  3. Within a few days after receiving your application package someone from the Teacher Training Department will contact you, at their own discretion, in order to arrange a day and a time to have an interview.
  4. During the interview, which can take up to 1 hour, the interviewer will assess your awareness of language structure and function as well as general sensitivity to adult language learning issues. Enrolment on the course is subject to successful completion of the interview. All applicants are required to have an interview. For those living outside the Perth area, this will be conducted on the telephone and applicants are to meet the cost of this, alternatively, a Skype conference can be also an option.
  5. After your interview they will decide if they offer you a vacancy on the course or not; if they do it, you will have one week from the moment they offer you the vacancy to pay a deposit in order to secure your vacancy on the course.
  6. 4 to 2 weeks prior the course commencement date, you will have to pay the balance.

 

How to Pay

Payments (deposit & balance) can be made directly to the School via Bank Transfer, Bank Cheque, Cash, or Credit Card. Personal cheques will not be accepted.

Living costs have been calculated at around $250 to $300 AUD per week for international students in Perth, depending on individual circumstances and accommodation preferences. This is below the Australian average including being lower than the living costs in Sydney and Melbourne.

There is an excellent public transport network of bus, train and ferry services. Perth is one of the only Australian cities to give international students a 40% discount on their travel making Perth living even more affordable for students .The city centres of Perth and Fremantle are served by free bus services which run regularly throughout the day.

Cosmopolitan Perth is the Capital of Western Australia and together with the historic port of Fremantle is home to over 1.7 million people, a significant number of whom are migrants from Europe, the Middle East, North and South Asia and Africa.

Perth has a Mediterranean climate with warm to hot dry summers and mild winters. International students will find the adjustment to the Perth climate very easy.
