About the TESOL trainers

The Centre in Malta counts with trainers that have worked internationally and bring a wide range of key experience, qualifications and knowledge to the course. All the trainers undergo a rigorous selection and training process that is monitored by Cambridge University. To further enhance quality the Centre invests in occasionally recruiting top trainers from other Centres around the globe to work at the Training Center in Malta. To ensure that the trainers are up to date with current methodology the Centre also encourages the trainers to attend and participate in international Teacher Training conferences abroad.

Accommodation

Hibernia Residence:

The Hibernia Residence & Hostel is a seven storey building which has recently been refurbished taking into account the needs of the new generation of youth.

Centrally located in the heart of Sliema, within walking distance of the famous Sliema promenade, the fantastic night life of Paceville, the commercial centre and the main public transport service, it is no wonder that Hibernia is in great demand.

15 minutes away is the Teacher Training Center, The Strand shopping centre, the School's own Aquacenter Beachclub, St. Julian's/Paceville night life (discotheques, night clubs, bowling centre, cinemas, bars, restaurants, sandy beach, etc.).

The University of Malta is 20 minutes away, Valletta 6km and the Malta International Airport is 8 km away.

The Residence consists of 34 spacious units which are made up of 20 studios and 14 superior studios.

Each unit comprises:

1. Private shower / bathroom, practical and comfortable furnishings: single beds, open wardrobe, desk, internet point, safe deposit box, ceiling ventilator, convector heater, kitchen cupboards, electric cooking hob, micro-wave oven, refrigerator, cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, energy saving device and sound reducing glazing.
2. Towels are changed twice weekly; Bed-linen is changed weekly.
3. Studio = one room with 1 or 2 or 3 beds, dining area and kitchenette

Hibernia Residence Common Areas

The building houses a breakfast room / cafeteria, cold drinks and snack vending machines, T.V. and video, meeting room for 35 persons, reading/study-room for 25 persons, internet cafe, coin operated laundry, rooftop sun-terrace, elevator to all floors, electronic door security locks, CCTV surveillance system, reception service (week days in the morning) and night custodian.

Homestay / Host Family Accommodation:

The Training Center strives to find the best match between guest and family, and so select hospitable and socially oriented families who are willing to share their experiences, daily lives and food, and the comfort of their home with their guest.

Attending a Homestay programme or living at a host family requires you also to adapt to your hosting family and to share in their daily house life and chores.

The Training Center provides you with families who:

1. are carefully selected following a personal visit to identify their disposition, aptitude, social ambiance, hospitality and the standing of their house to accommodate guests
2. live in the north coastal town of Sliema and its environs, and in the central village of Lija and its environs; both environs covering a radius of some 4 kilometers
3. can comfortably accommodate up to four guests in single, twin or triple rooms
4. are English speaking and look forward to converse with their guest
5. offer a meal plan of breakfast and one wholesome evening meal
6. are reliable and abide by the Training Center Guest / Host Family Charter and other hosting conditions

The Training Center also offers accommodation suited for adult guests:

1. an executive type of accommodation suited for established managerial and business people
2. stays of at least 1 week with reduced rates for long stays of over 8 weeks
3. an international mix of guests and cross-cultural relations under one roof
4. single rooms reserved for adults subject to space availability at time of booking
5. bed linen and bath towels, and a meal plan
