Teacher Training in Barcelona, Spain
"I took my CELTA at the Teacher Training Centre in Barcelona. It was the best thing I ever did. This past summer I actually got an ESL job to teaching adults in Canada (which is very hard to do). Now I am teaching ESL to young children in Seoul, Korea. I am loving every minute of it."

"I'm teaching full time in a community centre in the UK. I have an extremely interesting and rewarding job teaching ESOL to Asian women. To say that I've learned a lot over the last 18 months would be an understatement, but I must say that the CELTA course stood me in good stead. I have had to work hard at over-coming cultural barriers and creating appropriate resources- most of the students can not relate to Headway, Cutting Edge etc. Teaching students who don't even have the alphabet is extremely challenging, as is keeping them engaged in the lessons."

The Training Centre
The Teacher Training Centre is situated a 15 minute metro ride from the city centre, near the university and the beautiful residential area of Pedralbes. It is next to the Avenida Diagonal and is in one of the most important business and commercial areas of the city. Most headquarters of the largest multinational companies of the city can be found in this area.
Our groups are small in order to create a very close relationship between tutors, trainees and students. The Centre is proud of being able to provide a friendly but serious learning environment for the CELTA trainees.
One of the highlights of the centre is the place where it is situated, one of the most beautiful and attractive districts in the city. If you take a walk in the area around the school you will notice that most people are local, not tourists, and so unlike the centre of Barcelona you really can experience the city's way of life and, why not! practice your Spanish.
The centre has air-conditioning and is fully-equipped with photocopying facilities, computers with free, fast internet access, drinks machines and a "quiet room" with library where trainees can study and prepare teaching practice sessions in peace. Trainees have free access to the resource books in the library which contains the latest books on methodology and books on supplementary materials.
Accommodation
The teacher training center will be happy to arrange accommodation for you during CELTA. For most trainees this is usually a rented room in a self-catering apartment shared with other international students. You will have your own room and access to the facilities i.e. bathroom, kitchen etc.
The intention is to try to find accommodation as near to the school as possible and catering for preferences, but no guarantees can be given as it depends on availability at the time of the course.
The accommodation service booking fee is 45 €.

Barcelona
Barcelona hardly needs an introduction since it is one of the most interesting and lively cities in Europe. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, it has a wonderful climate: hot summers and mild sunny winters. Barcelona's climate and location, together with all the other attractions it offers make it one of the best destinations both for tourists and students.
The city offers a wide range of cultural attractions from the Picasso and Miró Museums to the Gaudí buildings, the cathedral, the Gothic Quarter etc. Not only does culture stand out in Barcelona but you will also find an exciting nightlife with bars and restaurants on every corner: the atmosphere is friendly, laid-back and stylish. There's nothing quite like a walk down Paseo de Gracia or the Ramblas - this stretch must be one of the most unique in the world.
The city's magnificent climate means that its streets, squares and parks are full of people enjoying the outdoor atmosphere and hospitality that the city is so famous for. Barcelona changes every season and, of course, during the summer you can enjoy the sunny weather, the sea and wonderful sandy beaches.
Near Barcelona:
There are many well-worth-a-visit places near Barcelona and which are within easy reach. We recommend the sandy beaches and rocky coves of the Costa Brava, the Dalí museum in Figueras and the Monastery of Monserrat. During the winter there is skiing in the nearby Pyrenees. An easy day trip can also be made to the impressive Montserrat Monastery and mountain.
